Great Lakes Electronics Almet Recycle is a nationwide full-service electronics recycler. Because customers have different needs, Great Lakes Electronics Almet has many different methods of managing waste to meet those needs. Three of the most common methods are remarketing, refurbishing and recycling. And no quantity is too large or too small.

With identity theft now one of the most common crimes facing customers, we can address that issues with the capability of shredding hard drives or prototype products. Customers can even witness their material being shredded via the Web. Great Lakes Electronics Almet Recycle is a state certified electronics recycler, practicing within the policies of the EPA, HIPPA, and state and federal law. All hard drives are “wiped” per Department of Defense (DOD) specifications, and all asset tags are removed. Whatever needs a customer may have, our company goal is to keep electronics out of the environment. Great Lakes Almet Recyle has a no-landfill policy.

As material is received by Great Lakes Electronics, all company labels, stickers and other forms of identification are removed, including any asset labels. Data deletion is performed on all data storage media including tape media, floppies, CD's, hard drives, etc. We can also perform physical destruction of hard drives after data deletion to ensure that the data is not recoverable by any means.

We also offer destruction of prototype materials such as automotive parts, television, computer, circuitry, etc.

GLE issues Certificates of Destruction and Certificates of Data Deletion upon request for any products we handle.

GLE may purchase the following types of equipment (pending review of makes, models and date codes) for remarketing:

  • Pentium-level computers, controllers & servers

  • Telecommunications equipment & telecom components

  • Networking equipment

  • Miscellaneous hard drives, floppy drives & CD-ROM drives

  • Circuit cards

  • Board level components and IC's

  • Computer room equipment including UPS's, computer flooring, racks, etc.

  • RAM chips

  • Software

  • Many other parts & components

Great Lakes Electronics performs environmentally friendly recycling using de-manufacturing and asset recovery. Computers, monitors, terminals, printed circuit boards, telephone equipment, TV's, VCR's and communications systems that are unusable are disassembled into component parts. Components of value are sold for reuse, and other parts are sent to certified facilities for metals recovery. All items from the de-manufacturing process are recycled. Even items with no value are recycled at GLE's expense.

Whether you have 10 pieces or 10,000 pieces, GLE will send our fully insured team of removal specialists with all the tools needed to palletize, remove and transport your equipment.

We provide a nationwide pickup service to help accommodate all of your organization's branches.

When material is back at one of our facilities, it will be inventoried, and all company identification and/or sensitive information will be removed and destroyed. A Certificate of Recycle/Reuse will be issued for each shipment.

Computers and laptops that are refurbished usually means that it did not initially pass quality standards of the manufacturer. Great Lakes Electronics Almet fixes or recertifies the unit(s) and resells the unit(s) to help prevent the computer components from ending up in the land fill and promote one of the highest forms of recycling. Great Lakes Electronics promotes the practice of providing under privileged childen computers to make the transition into a technology filled world easier.
